I began working with a recruiter in September 2022. She was personable and kind, and really talked up this experience. She talked about how “excited” she was about me as a candidate based on my experience. I had my first round interview, and it was delightful. I was told I would be recommended for next steps. I was so excited about this opportunity, it almost seemed to good to be true. And then, radio silence. I have emailed the recruiter at least 10x since then. I received one response stating she was in and out of office, and would get back to me when she could. Otherwise, I’ve only received OOO emails. So I took it upon myself to reach out to her team, and the contacts she suggested in her OOO response. Nothing. Not a word. My LinkedIn messages have been viewed, so I am fully aware they are receiving my outreach. And then last week, I saw that the same recruiter who totally ghosted me posted that they had 50 new hires last week… Look, at this point..while the opportunity seemed amazing and I was super excited about the company, I don’t even want this job…this candidate experience was horrible. Especially during a time when finding a job is extremely difficult, it was super discouraging. I only bring this to attention so this doesn’t happen to someone else that is a qualified candidate. Recruiters are busy. I get it. But you this was beyond “falling through the cracks”.
