Interview
On paper the company seems very interesting and set up to succeed. However, the interview process suggested disorganization. Many small things like not receiving links to video calls in confirmation emails and having interviewers shuffled right before calls continued to add up. They seem to be growing rapidly, but I question that their interview process can properly screen candidates. It was a bunch of unstructured conversations. At times, it seemed like the interviewers were grasping for more questions to ask to fill up the time. I am no fan of CS algorithm problems, but they went to the opposite extreme. They did not ask to see any code I have written or do any pairing exercise. Having conducted many interviews, I know that a candidate can talk technically and sound great, but once you try to pair on a small exercise you can see that they really cannot do simple tasks. I was passed on and given no useful feedback and am not sure they could even supply any if pressed. The decision was probably largely based on the personalities of those interviewing me differing from my own. If I was extended an offer I am not sure I would have accepted because the interview process struck me as a red flag.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Beyond Identity in Feb 2022
Interview
I did 3 interviews and it was was the most disorganized company I have ever interviewed with. The first interview was fine and the guy was nice and friendly. It was a pretty casual conversational interview with a few light technical questions. They then scheduled an interview with somebody from talent acquisition which was a 45min conversation about the company culture and their benefits and employee initiatives. Kind of random to have this interview before an actual technical interview and seemed pretty unnecessary for this stage of the interview process.
Anyway everybody up until this point was nice and professional so I just went along with their process expecting to be given an technical interview (eventually). Then I got a third interview which I figured would be some sort of technical round. Instead I spoke with two women who didn't seem to have a clue what was going on or how to conduct a proper interview. They were very unprofessional and serious lacked any basic level of interviewing/conversational skills. They were also pretty arrogant and condescending and asked a bunch of questions which had no relevance to the actual technical skill set required to do the job.
I felt annoyed with myself after that I even set through this interview as these people were really not worth my time. I would run a mile from this company. Seems like a chaotic place to work and some seriously toxic vibes coming from the two engineers I spoke with in the 3rd round.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate the feedback and continually try to improve both our process and interviews. Keeping in line with our core values, we'll continue improving so all candidates have a great experience when interviewing with us.
