I was initially intrigued by the company, but the interview experience left me disenchanted. I understand this unprofessional manager may not reflect the overall company culture, however the encounter felt bizarre and chaotic. Both the hiring manager and the recruiter seemed completely disorganized. The hiring manager joined the video call while driving on the freeway, showing a complete lack of preparedness and inability to ask relevant questions. Then the recruiter finally joined, asking the manager to turn off her camera. Throughout the interview, the recruiter asked me many questions and appeared content with my answers and assured me I would hear back regarding the next steps. Then she abruptly ended the call, citing another meeting, leaving the hiring manage to continue with questioning. The hiring manager, still driving, asked me what the recruiter and I had discussed as she hadn't been paying attention. I tried to provide a brief summary, while at the same time realizing that there was no way I could ever work with someone like that. As a manager myself, I have conducted numerous interviews and hired many people. Regardless of the situation, it is unacceptable to interview candidates while driving. At the very least, one should pull over and stop their vehicle. I am relieved that I did not receive a call back as this experience exemplified utter chaos. Imagine working with or for someone with such poor judgement.
