I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bath & Body Works (Bellflower, CA) in Sept 2016
Interview
They had multiple SM openings online and I applied to all the ones in my area online. Got an email from a recruiter to schedule an over the phone. About 15-20 minutes of standard questions. Then she decided to move me forward to a DM interview. DM was too far away from location so that was on the phone too. That was an hour and ten minutes. Yes, 70 minutes. She told me that I would hear from her with an answer within a couple of days. Two weeks went by and I reached to recruiter, only to tell me that she didn't have an answer and needed to reach to DM. I get an email two days later from recruiter that DM had decided to go with someone else. Shortly after I got called from an SM who wanted to interview me and went on site to her. Same questions, less time...
But, no callback until I reached out but SM was not available, left a message but never got callback. A couple days later another SM wanted to schedule an interview and I let her know that I had interviewed three times with Recruiter, DM and SM from another location. She told she would have to reach out to them to touch base and get feedback so that I wouldn't run around interviewing. I didn't expect a call back. Obviously there's lack of communication amongst districts. I can understand. But it's an opportunity and they should try and fix it.
Interview questions [4]
Question 1
What's your current succession plan for your team?
Initial interview with senior recruiter from Chicago was not what I expected. She started the interview very short and was talking very fast and blunt. The interview continued the same way. I felt very rushed and gave short answers that were not detailed to accommodate her timeline. Interview was 5 mins long and did not seem she was not actually interested in getting to know much.

I had 2 interviews with them. It was average questions that gauge your management style. Personality and Motivation to work within their company. I found it to be Easy and Helpful.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bath & Body Works in Oct 2025
Interview
DM was late to interview, store had. no idea I was coming so I was left wandering around the store til the DM arrived 10 mins after my interview should have started. She didn't seem to know anything about me, never pulled out a resume or referenced any of my previous experiences. She took notes on a spiral notebook and asked seemingly random questions.
After about 15 mins I was sent to the sales floor to do an "in-store experience," except the DM randomly disappeared without providing instructions and I was once again left wandering aorund the store. I finally asked the store staff what I was supposed to be doing and they gave me a store tour and were really great to chat with. The DM came back after another 15 mins and said "sorry I really needed to take that call." She then asked me what I had learned, which I told her about the store tour and getting to know the staff, but didn't know what else she meant by that as no direction had been provided. I was then told next steps would be with a peer DM, and the term "if you move forward" was used multiple times.
It felt very much like the DM was disconnected or distracted and was unprepared or just maybe had no interest in me at all. Who takes a call in the middle of an interview, unless its urgent?
Sure enough, I finally emailed over a week later asking for an update, and received a very generic and automated rejection response. The more I think about it, it feels like I dodged a bullet.
