Invited to an online assessment centre. There, we were put into relevant groups and given a task to work on. The task was more related to Balfour Beatty and had absolutely nothing to do with software development/engineering, which I initially found a little bizarre. We then had to present our task result to the members of staff/other groups and answer any questions. Then there was a break for lunch and we came back for a one-on-one interview where they asked about background and some technical-related questions to the job. Interview was fine and quite relaxed so no real issues with that.
There was nothing on the email invite about how long this would all take and I didn't really expect it to take as long as it did (4-5 hours).
I was told they would be in touch within a week or 2 but it has now been a month and I have never heard back from them. I contacted them 2 weeks ago and asked for an update and they said they would get back to me but have still had nothing back. I now know the job has been filled and I think. being honest, the person who got the job was probably better suited to it than myself. However, if you invite someone to an assessment centre that they take part in for most of the day, the very least you can do is send them a generic email with 3 lines telling them they have been unsuccessful afterwards. The lack of professionalism, decency and respect from the company actually makes me a bit relieved they didn't make me an offer.
