I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Backbase (Amsterdam) in Dec 2021
Interview
I recently started at BackBase as a Senior UX Designer.
I had a great experience with BackBase and everyone I spoke with during my interview. My recruiter was helpful in every way and always tried to help me through constant communication.
The process consists of 4 different phases:
1- Screening call: usually a friendly conversation with the recruiter to get to know you and your background.
2- Portfolio review: you will be asked to go over your past projects in a 60-minute conversation with the designers on the BackBase team.
3- Test case/case study: you will be given a test case to show your skills and approach to design and problem solving in general. I do not usually like doing test cases, but the one BackBase gave me was really impressive. It was clear, understandable, entertaining, and most importantly, it focused more on your thought process than your visual design skills.
4- Presentation: After you have completed your case study, you will be asked to present the result in front of the design team.
Generally, the process is very similar to industry standards and well-executed. It was neither difficult nor easy. I never felt stressed but I was always trying to pay attention to what they said.
If you are interested in FinTech as a designer, I recommend you apply to BackBase and take your chance!
