Quick and streamlined...get a personal referral first!!!! The HR interview was just a formality.
I did all my networking first before I even applied to the company. Once I met with the project manager for lunch and discussed possible opportunities at the project, I met with a few other lead managers and was given the go-ahead. I submitted my resume to the manager and they submitted it via the company's online employee referral vehicle. I was also given the number of the HR manager to follow-up with. The telephonic interview with HR lasted 20min (which more more information gathering than an interview). I submitted a new background check report and went for a drug screen. I was then scheduled for an interview with the security manager. Standard security questions for this industry and lasted 1.5 hrs. After that interview, I was scheduled for the last interview with HR for salary negotiations (remember, I had already received project manager approvals, but normally you can expect these interviews to be the hardest and last 1-2hrs each, depending on how many stakeholders you need to interview with). The salary negotiation meeting lasted about 20-30 min with a few pauses...for effect.
After signing on, I was given a start date and I reported to HR with a starting "class". I sat in a conference room with 12 other individuals and spent the day watching various videos and filling out forms and getting our first doses of the corporate culture. Continental breakfast was provided.
