Started with the process early in Oct. 2022 and things went smoothly. Had a final interview just before Thanksgiving. Final interview feedback was very positive, although there was a concern my research interests may be in a different area despite checking all the qualification boxes (even preferred quals). Basically was ghosted for almost 2 months (sent many follow-ups) when recruiter finally got back to me mid-January and said they would have an update a week later... 2 weeks later, after prodding, they said I would be a better fit for a different position and said my original application was closed. Got started on a different position's application and setup interview with the hiring manager. After a dream offer from a different company, I cancelled the BAE interview as I didn't trust them enough to hear them out. My mistake was not lying to BAE about other offers/time sensitivity. They likely would have moved on me if I hadn't given them over a month to test the waters.
