      Customer Quality Engineer Interview

      18 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mentor, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Avery Dennison (Mentor, OH) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Overall the interview process was extremely disorganized and poorly setup. The first interview was with the team supervisor via a video call. The supervisor did not ask me any questions related to my skills/experience. She seemed to really just want to talk about herself. Right at the 30 minute mark she exclaimed "I have to go. Just wondering, do you speak any Spanish?" I said "No..." and she said "Ok nice talking to you. Bye." A few days later the recruiter messaged me saying the team wanted to bring me on-site in Mentor, OH. to conduct a panel interview. The first interview of four was with the supervisor I had the video interview with prior. She started off by asking "what all questions do you have about this role?" We then had a back and forth for 30 minutes discussing the role and the questions I had. Right around the 30 minute mark the next interviewer knocked on the door and the supervisor said "oh it looks like our time is up. I didn't get to ask you any questions I wanted to ask. We will have to set up another interview." This lady was so disorganized and inexperienced as a manager she forgot to ask a single question about me over an hour total of interview time and two separate interviews. Then before she got up to leave she said "the person interviewing you next is my boss, she's going to make sure I went over a few key details about the role with you so let me do those real quick before she comes in." She then proceeded to read off bullet points on her notes in third person "make sure you tell him the scope of the position includes x, y, and z., etc." I just sat there and nodded. It was extremely awkward. Her boss came in next and was extremely professional and obviously very smart. Her and I had a fine discussion. The only problem is she completely changed jobs the very next day to a position within the company in a different state. After following up 2 weeks later they said they had some organizational restructuring and were not even sure if they were going to fill the role anymore. Clearly dodged a bullet with this one. Good riddance.
