I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AvalonBay Communities
Interview
After completing personality and analytical tests the interview process was left to the whims of local management. A new manager wanted to cosplay working at Google and asked me logic/math riddles. Instead of letting me off when I said I was stumped, he remained painfully silent and watched me squirm for three minutes. The embarrassment and humiliation afterwards made me want to hurt myself.

Question 1
If you have a 7-minute hourglass and an 11-minute hourglass, how can you boil an egg in exactly 15 minutes? You have a 3 gallon jug and 5 gallon jug, how do you measure out exactly 4 gallons?
Thank you for your feedback and candor.
While we want our interview process to be thought provoking, we certainly don’t want candidates to feel embarrassment or humiliation. I apologize that your experience was not reflective of our company culture. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to reach out at your convenience to recruiting@avalonbay.com.

Interview
I was really excited to apply for this opportunity after having very little experience initially. I did two rounds of interviews and then I was hired, and given a very warm welcome but after being on site for two weeks, I was entirely on my own and it pretty much went downhill from there.
The interview process takes a while if you are an external candidate. I first applied in Marc 2022 and then I had my interview in June 2022 and didn't hear back until August, then started at the end of August.
Pretty standard interview process. interview was with the on-site property manager for the community. They asked the general questions about experience, goals, etc. very straight forward. After the formal interview, the assistant manager took me on a quick tour of the community and I then was asked to give a mock to the property manager, as if I were touring a real potential customer which was really fun! I received a formal offer a couple of days later and accepted.
