      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AutoNation in Jun 2023

      Interview

      1. Phone call with HR (mostly introduction of one to another). 2. Offline google form with questions about REST, PII, SQL optimization, Java app optimization, Front end optimization. 3. Online coding interview. Solve one mid difficulty challenge. In my case it was String manipulation, like given text, write translator to ancient language. 4. Final round of interview (didn't reach that round) HR was nice and responsive during the process, also provided clarification for rejection in the end, though quite brief.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

For round 3. I talked through solution on the call, wasn't able to finish within time of the interview. Interviewer proposed me to finish offline. Sent working solution same day, still was rejected as I solved it not as fast as he expected. So my extra time that I spent offline was wasted. Overall experience still was positive with small amount of confusion

      Senior Software Developer Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AutoNation (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in Jan 2015

      Interview

I met briefly with a hiring manager and we chatted and went through some number puzzles. While I'm not a "puzzle person" I liked the manager and was successful. The next meeting was a panel round table where the panel asked me questions but I had no opportunity to ask them questions and was not given any kind of facility tour. After receiving the offer I asked for the opportunity to ask a few questions and did so (over the phone). I really liked the people at AutoNation and initially accepted the offer, which was somewhat less than my previous salary. Also, the AutoNation offer was contract-to-hire, and while a leadership role was described as possible, the offer on the table was for hands-on work only. My present employer made a generous counter-offer, significantly increasing the difference between the two salaries. In spite of the uncertainties in the AutoNation offer and the salary difference, it was very difficult to leave their offer on the table. Based on my experience I would highly recommend AutoNation.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      There were some mathematical puzzles.
