Interview
They have an internal recruitment officer who was super friendly and engaging, and the follow-up interview with the lead product designer and the lead engineer then followed very quickly. They asked to see a body of work and a folio walk through which is pretty normal for this type of role.

Interview
It sounded like a good role at first, but as the calls went on, and I met more of the team, it was becoming less appealing. It was pretty clear that all the technical decision making would be made in Australia during the night, and the UK team would essentially be a tax relief to do grunt work.
Looking at the code in the interview assignment, I imagine it's using a lot of ideas/approaches from when the app was started a number of years ago, and hasn't kept up with modern trends/design patterns (i.e. TypeScript, containers, design systems).
The process was 5 calls, then ghosted. Each call seemed a bit unprepared, and there was very little warmth from their side. Entirely orientated to what they can get, not any interested in what I might want from the role. Technical assessments were weird, and random. Every call that happened, I wanted to work with them less and less. The job ad sounded good, but the behaviours didn't reflect this.
