Within a week or two of submitting my resume and cover letter, I was notified that I had made it past the first screening and would hear back from them by email. The email assured me that I might not hear from them for a few weeks due to the volume of applicants, but that I would indeed be contacted. Over a month later, I had still not received any word from the company. By that point I contacted them to inquire about what was going on. All I received was a short reply saying I did not make it to the next round. It was very unprofessional to reassure applicants that they would be contacted, but then not follow up.
