      Application

      I interviewed at Appian

      Interview

Interview process was quick and seamless. The recruiter I worked with great and really took the time to understand my experience and preferences. The team I interviewed with was also great and I felt valued during the process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What skills would you be bringing to the team?

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Appian in May 2022

      Interview

The interview process was pretty lengthy. It began with a 30 minute phone-screening with the recruiter who first reached out to me via Linkedin. After that, I had a 45 minute long video call with the manager for that position. They gave me an hour-long assignment to complete after that interview, and then I moved on to a 4 hour-long interview process with 6 different people. They described it as being a "panel style" interview where instead of all being in the same room, they spoke to me individually for about 45 minutes per person. The "panel" interviews were really unpleasant, primarily due to the fact that many of the interviewers had clearly not coordinated with one another, and I was asked the same questions over and over again. By the last 2 interviews, it was clear to me that they hadn't done too much coordination between them. The high-level supervisor (the last interviewer) was very brusque and his questions were uncomfortably assertive. At the end of it all, I got a phone call the next day from the recruiter (who, again, had reached out to me first) to tell me that they weren't going to offer me the job due to the fact that I hadn't been at either of my most recent jobs for long enough. They had all of that information available to them on my Linkedin as well as in the resume that I provided them. I wasted approximately 7 hours total. A note about the recruiters-- it really seems like they want you to get the job. I had multiple check-in phone calls with this recruiter to prep me for different interviews. They were very positive and uplifting throughout the process, but it feels almost deceptive that they would root for you so hard only to bear that bad news and blame it on the team of interviewers. It added an extra layer of distaste to the process.

What are you gonna do if you don't get this job?

      Question 2

What are you most proud of in your work?

      Question 3

There were a million "Tell me about a time when you..." questions. Ex. "Tell me about a time when you overcame a great challenge in your current role"
