I applied online for a Craigslist Ad/AllStaff website ad looking for 50+ workers on all shifts in Buffalo Grove, IL. I was contacted the next day and spoke with a Recruiting Center rep. She asked a few very general questions and then told me that I would be interviewing at the Palatine, IL, office. It would involve an application and then a face-to-face interview.
So, I dressed up with a shirt and tie and showed up for my appointment. I was greeted by one of the office women and given a temporary login to complete an online application at one of the computer terminals. When I was complete another office woman had me sit alongside her desk and go over my application. She went over the experience and asked a few questions. Then, she said that I was in the wrong place. I would have to wait for another woman to call me and talk to her. She continued to ask a few questions like what was my SS# and who was my cellphone carrier. Mind you, these were already entered via the online application. Sounded sketchy to me. I told her that I was here to interview for one of these general labor jobs and showed her the job information that was posted both on Craigslist and their own website. She didn't even blink and told me that I would have to wait for the woman to call me and talk to her. I was pushed out the door. NOT a very good feeling since this was a non-skilled temp job asking for no requisites other than a high school graduate.
Haven't heard from them again (not like I was expecting to). I had a suspicion of them not being an Equal Opportunity Employer but then I would be accusing them of discriminating because of my race and/or age. Bad experience. Bad feeling. Bad people to deal with.
