I applied online. I interviewed at American English Center (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2015
Interview
A 30 minute Skype interview. It was a personality review and teaching skills. You were told if you are hiring you will be met at the airport and taken to an apartment in Kiev. At first someone will help you settle in. Then there will be two weeks training and you will then be assigned to a school.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1

Do you have TEFL or other English teaching experience?

Interview
I had a Skype interview with an HR rep in America. The interview took around an hour. The HR rep was really positive and friendly. She described her experience working for the school in Ukraine and was able to answer all of my questions about the work environment and expectations. The only thing she couldn't get into was the visa issues. "Wait until you get to Ukraine, tell immigration you're coming as a tourist", all that stuff. She emailed me with a job offer about a week later.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at American English Center (Kyiv, Kyiv) in Mar 2010
Interview
Very informal interview. In fact it was hardly an interview at all. It seems that they don't like if you're too good of a candidate, but they're often desperate and that's how a qualified teacher with a CELTA like me actually made it through the cracks. Honestly, all you need is a good reply to 2 questions: 1) Why do you want to live in Ukraine? 2) Why do you think you'd be a good teacher? If you get those 2 right, you're in.
