A recruiter calls you on the phone and asks all kinds of questions about work hours, time off etc. to weed out those who aren't a good fit. If you pass the initial screen, you are invited to an in-person interview which consists of giving prospective employees more info about how you will have the worst work hours, leftover vacation times, how you can't be late, etc. Also, gives you the ability to ask any questions you may have. Then you are free to leave and they tell you they will call you. My experience ended there as they never called me back or answered a letter I sent.
