I only met with an HR rep who saw my application and was super impressed with my credentials. We had a great conversation. I was a perfect fit for the position having done the exact same thing before, in the same industry, and for a company that was acquired for millions three years into my tenure. My work played a key role in that acquisition. She told me she was passing my info on to the hiring manager with the recommendation to meet with me. I never heard from this person, and I received a rejection later a couple of weeks later. I have my suspicions as to why that happened. I'm 56, FYI. Fortunately, after what I learned from our conversation I was no longer interested in the position, but rather than formally withdraw my application I let things play out for my own intelligence gathering.
