      Java Software Developer Interview

      12 Aug 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Adthena

      Interview

A brief introduction call, followed by a take home assignment. They say the take home assignment should take 2 hours but that's a big lie. They want you do it absolutely perfect or they will nitpick every single thing they can out of it, which of course you can't do in 2 hours.

Thank you for your review and we're really sorry you had a bad experience. The take home assignment is meant to be a jumping off point for technical conversation at interview and is meant to explore ideas, challenges, and how you might have done things differently/improvements. It is not meant to be nit picking and we don't expect perfection so we're really disappointed that we made you feel that way. We will certainly take this on board and think about how we give people a friendly experience in future. The fact you passed the assignment means you did a good test! :-) We've made changes to our process so that candidates have an option to do either the take home version or an on site task, as we realise that the take home assignment is a fair commitment (whilst some people may only take a couple of hours, most people need more), so thank you for taking the time to do it in the first place. We really appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best in your search
