I applied online. I interviewed at Addepar (Mountain View, CA) in Apr 2017
Interview
They run a very simple process that checks to see how much they like you. Unfortunately they use junior people to do the interview. They start with a demo of their product, which shows how it presents customer data in a simple, polished report; unfortunately, the demo has bugs and issues, showing their lack of quality and they lack of attention to it reflects poorly on them. They talk of having no test process except to use customer data in real time, no simulation, test accounts, etc.. Then they have you talk to everyone in a group meeting with no context of how they group works, so the engineers are asking you questions related to their concerns, but you have no organizational information to understand what the concerns are related to, so very much how much they like the person verses how good a fit they would be. In other words they present no information on what skills they are looking to fill, just a general personality look. I found it very junior and overly simplified for a senior level position, more of something you would do to hire a junior engineer, not a director.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell us how you would go about writing this sample code in python . No real context of the problem the code should address, just a top of the head questions to see if you would approach the same way they would. Worst assessment question as it was more of a behavioral question to see if your thinking is as junior as the question.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Addepar (San Jose, CA) in Jul 2017
Interview
I was very excited about this opportunity. The posted position was a strong fit with my background. I applied online and was contacted the same day about setting up a phone interview with a senior member of the executive staff. The call with the member of the executive staff went very well, engaging and mutually insightful. The call went over the assigned time, the interviewer assured me she or another member of the team would get back to me for next steps.
After a couple of weeks I received an email saying thank you but no interest at this time, no feeback, nothing.
THE POSTION IS STILL POSTED AFTER MANY MONTHS, THE OVERALL RATINGS ON INTERVIEWS ARE NEGATIVE, THIS IS SOMETHING THE COMPANY NEEDS TO FIX TO STAY COMPETITIVE.

Question 1
How can you help up build Addepar to a leading edge company
Thank you for your feedback. I believe your initial call was with me. I'm glad to hear that at least that went well for you. We had many applicants for this role and did communicate with everyone. I'm sorry if the email you received was not the candidate experience you were hoping for. The role has been open for two months and we haven't found the right candidate yet, but will continue our search. Thank you.
