      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ad Hoc (DC) in Feb 2020

      Interview

I applied online and was asked to complete a design assignment before speaking with anyone on the phone. I was then invited to speak to a hiring manager who did a screener interview. Finally, I was also invited to do a portfolio review with a principal designer. The application process was different from others in that they request you do a design exercise before you speak to anyone. I found this to be incredibly refreshing and it gave me more confidence the further I went into the process. Everyone I spoke to was very positive about their experiences at Ad Hoc and was able to answer all of my questions thoroughly. Communication throughout the process was top-notch.

      Question 1

Tell me what interests you about Ad Hoc?

      Interview

I submitted my application, and was given the standard set of test questions to answer. 2-3 weeks later, I was asked availability for a video interview by a recruiting coordinator. About a week or two later, after a few last-minute time reschedules, I met via video with 2 individuals from Ad Hoc for about an hour. They asked great questions and dug into my experience after a brief company overview. I have not heard anything back in the two months since, so I can safely surmise they do not plan on following-up.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ad Hoc (DC) (Washington, DC) in Jul 2019

      Interview

Applied through their online application form. The next day I received an email that invited me to complete the UX homework via their homework application. I submitted the homework and then about a week later I received an email with two invitations: 1) screening interview with a recruiter and 2) a panel interview. I had the recruiter interview, and then 1 business day later I interviewed with a two-person panel. The recruiter screening interview was very straightforward, they just explained the company and its goal, but asked me zero questions. The panel interview was a different story. The panelists did not seem prepared (they had no prepared questions), they had what appeared to be a very basic understanding of my resume and background (seemed as though they read it 5 minutes before the interview started), and they were generally terrible interviewers asking unclear questions, having difficulty organizing their thoughts into question form. Additionally, neither of the two panelists worked in the area the position would work in, so they weren't able to answer my questions that were specific to the role and function of the role. Note: this is a 100% remote company, so the interview was done from multiple locations facilitated by phone for the recruiter and Google Hangouts for the panel interview (the recruiter and two panelists were in different states, and I was in another state - I had to put a location to submit this review).
