My experience was a little unique, because I had two interview processes: the position I ended up accepting was not the one I initially interviewed for. For the position I ultimately took, interview was a combination of 1:1 conversation with the CEO and a tryout. Tryout consisted of a creative/design briefing on-site, followed by my doing work on a hypothetical project on my own time over about a week's time, and then an on-site review of the work by members of the team who would be consuming it. I believe the tryout model is used for many, if not most, positions at Acumium these days. I like the model, because I think it allows both the employer and potential employee to get a sense for each other in a way that a standard Q&A interview doesn't.
