3 part interview 1. A one hour timed coding challenge with two problems. The problems were given through HackerRank and was straight forward. One was a simple SQL query and the other was a python based coding problem that was semi related to the companies business. 2. A take-home coding challenge and presentation. The take home project was a simple todo application, not challenging at all, and I was surprised that this was what they gave out for a senior role. 3. An onsite white boarding session and 5 stage multistage cultural interview and paid lunch. The office is in one of the high-rise buildings right off of Fayetteville, AR square. Open concept floor-plan with several meeting rooms. The first session was a simple white boarding session where I met one of the developers and the hiring manager. After solving the problem together we sat down to meet/greet each other for about 10 minutes. Then I had four, twenty minute meetings with people from across the company. Afterwards they took me to lunch with three new people and the hiring manager. The venue was dark, crowded, and noisy. I wasn't offered the job. This is the feedback I received. "Our team thought that you did really well with the take home project but did not demonstrate technical skills relative to your overall experience in the onsite problem solving sessions. During the cultural interview our team did not pick up the sense of passion that we are looking for toward AcreTrader or the products that we are building. I realize that sometimes that might not come out in an interview and it is a long day. However, the decision has been made that right now it’s not a fit." They didn't call either of my personal references that they requested from me before the onsite. They didn't really get to know me and it felt like they didn't really even care. So, yeah. I did not have a great experience and it felt like a huge waste of time and energy on both sides.
