I was contacted via e-mail from their HR representative (in big, bold, pink text...) for an interview and instructed to wear "professional business attire."
Upon entering the waiting area, I noticed an eerie lack of aesthetic appeal, scuffed and dirty walls and a shoddy framed picture on the wall. When I was taken back to the room for an interview, it resembled the waiting area as well. During the interview, I felt as if the woman was trying more to sell the job to me than seeing if I was qualified for it. As the interview went on, I felt like the most intelligent person in the room and this was a scary, unsettling feeling. She made a point to hammer home the idea that I would soon go from an entry-level to a management position and have my own office...Finally, I was asked, "Why do you feel that you're a good fit for the position?"
I was then contacted via e-mail for a "Second Interview." Upon arriving at the office, I was introduced to another woman and told that I would be going with her to see the job in action. I was then given directions and drove myself about 30 minutes away. When I got there, the woman explain that the job was essentially face to face "cold calling" in a retail store, walking around and asking random customers to purchase something, getting their information.
This all seemed a bit like a trap to me, and I walked out. Their listing (and the job title they used) made the position seem much more professional than it really was, and the whole thing felt quite scammy.
