      Math+ Tutor Interview

      25 May 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AUSL (Chicago, IL) in May 2013

      Interview

The interview started off in small groups around a table. The interviewees interviewed ~five applicants round-robin style, and the questions varied each round. Applicants took turns answering 2-3 questions each time. After that, each group was tasked with putting together a timed presentation and sharing it with the group. There's a computerized math test that follows for proficiency through fifth grade math. The name of the game here is teamwork. If you hog the spotlight trying to make an impression instead of making your point directly and concisely, you'll look like you can't be a team player--you'll be eating up the other applicants' time and spoiling your presentation and self-image. Participate in conversation with your colleagues and show that you can work with them to support them while making yourself look good in the limited time you have. I got the offer. Though initially they called to tell me I was waitlisted, I was called back an hour later and told I had the job. I think one manager really wanted me but that I made less of an impression on the other interviewee who initially called me.
