      Director Interview

      1 Jun 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ANCOR (Washington, DC)

      Interview

The Interview Process was extensive. Ancor included a timeline, which they upheld. However, it was a nine- to ten-step time-consuming process. During each step, Ancor eliminated candidates. During the Skills Test round, Ancor's initial statement that the assignment would take an hour proved to be a significant underestimation. Producing a thoughtful product to showcase one's skills requires much more time. In the instructions, Ancor also stated they would not use the Skills Test as their work product. I highly doubt they upheld this statement. After reaching the interview round, I slowly realized that I was just a diversity candidate. For instance, no virtual link was given after I was informed that I had made it to the Interview Round. I had to ask for the link, which the staffer stated they had forgotten because they thought they had sent it. The delay in receiving the question was another downside because Ancor provides the interview questions in advance with the virtual interview link. It was becoming increasingly clear that Ancor did not plan on proceeding regardless of my skills or qualifications. Ancor showcases their staff on the 'Meet Our Team' webpage. Of the 17 employees, one is a person of color. Of their 15 Board of Directors, one is a person of color. So, it is clear the organization has a diversity issue. If the staff knew they had this mindset, they should not waste the candidate's time and efforts interviewing with no intention of giving full consideration.
