      Project Manager Interview

      3 May 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Little Elm, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at 7-Eleven (Little Elm, TX) in Apr 2023

      Interview

Warning - Ghosting! During my interview process at 7-Eleven I had an initial phone screen with a recruiter and then 2-30 minute interviews, one with the hiring manager and one with their peer. Up until this point, I had a very positive experience and really enjoyed the conversations. After these interviews I had a 4-hour in person interview with a total of 7 people from 7-Eleven. This was broke up into 45-minute sessions, the first was a 1-1 interview, the second was a panel interview with the team’s VP and another manager. The third session was with three of the members of the hiring team and the last session was with the hiring manager. Everyone I met with were kind and they all spoke highly of the culture and the family atmosphere at 7-Eleven. However, the interview location was in essentially a fish bowl, at the entrance of the corporate office. During the entire in person interview process I found several people stopping and staring at me from outside the room. Adding to this, I am handicapped and cannot sit for long periods of time without having tachycardia. I attempted to warn the recruiter of this ahead of the interview, but I was unable to get in touch. My biggest regret in this process is not advocating for myself at the in person interview. As the process went on, I spent more time trying to control my breathing/ heart rate while answering questions. Again, I should have stopped the in person before it started when I saw the room, that was my fault. When the interview was over the hiring manager told me I should hear back within 2-3 business days. In the days following the in person I’ve attempted to reach out to the recruiter twice to get the email addresses of those I met and I tried connecting with them on LinkedIn, all to no avail. This in person was over 3-weeks ago and I am still being essentially ghosted. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth especially considering I took off a full day from work to attend the interview.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at 7-Eleven (San Francisco, CA) in May 2024

      Interview

The interview process for the Product Manager role was straightforward and organized. It began with a 30-minute phone screen with a recruiter who asked about my background, experience with retail tech, and familiarity with store-level operations. The next step was a video interview with the hiring manager, where we discussed roadmap prioritization, handling conflicting cross-functional demands, and how I work with data to drive decisions. I was then given a case study focused on improving in-store inventory accuracy and reducing stockouts. The final round involved conversations with stakeholders from operations and analytics, each asking practical, scenario-based questions about scaling features across thousands of stores. Overall, the tone was professional, and expectations were clearly communicated throughout the process.

      Question 1

How would you redesign the in-store purchase flow to reduce friction

      Product Manager Interview

      21 Apr 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Irving, TX
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at 7-Eleven (Irving, TX)

      Interview

Interview with foreign recruiter, often several for the same role. It was very disorganized. Was told it was remote. When I interviewed with the company, it was fully on-site. The description of the work environment seemed toxic. I decline interview requests from this company now. I don't care what they offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Work experience, strengths, weaknesses, attempted "gotcha" technical questions. Was told by a recruiter that the hiring manager is difficult and has lots of turnover on his team.
