it was fine, you interview three times and do an assessment. couldn’t tell how i did. took around two weeks or so and they call to let you know if you got the job or not.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at &Barr in Nov 2021
Interview
I was referred to apply by a former intern, and was told the role would be 16-24 hours a week in-person - UNPAID. Being a student at the time, that meant commuting 30+ minutes 2-3 days a week without any sort of compensation 9-5. And after I asked questions about interns who may work second jobs (which would somewhat make up for the compensation &Barr isn't giving them), I was ghosted. This was a while ago, but completely turned me away from the company. If this is what they subject interns to, I can't imagine what it's like for full-time employees. I know people try to justify this behavior by saying, "That's how it is for interns." But ever since this experience, I've been offered hybrid/remote internships that are paid hourly or come with a stipend. It's not too much of an ask or expectation. I'm not sure if &Barr has started paying their interns or being open to remote work, but if they haven't, it's a huge turn-off in this day and age.
I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at &Barr (Orlando, FL)
Interview
I met with three employees and the format was fairly casual and quickly got the sense that this work environment is similar to a high school - either you're "cool" and accepted or rejected. It was a very short interview and I didn't get much feedback. The department supervisor seemed like a great guy, but very disconnected from the day to day of the workers. I had high hopes and a positive attitude going in, but ultimately left a bad taste in my mouth and I now have a very negative view of this firm. I have a decade's worth of experience and the education to back it up (masters degree), and they made me feel like such an outsider and reject based on the way they handled my candidacy. I got an automated rejection email weeks later. I have lost all interest in being a part of a firm with a culture such as this.
