It depends on where you work and your pharmacy's size, but I had an amazing team that allowed me to be flexible with my schedule. I was easily able to take a day off if I needed to or work overtime if I wanted to. If you're interested in healthcare, pharmacy is a great start to expose yourself to medications and more.
Cons
Honestly, you come across lots of different patients when working at a pharmacy. In my experience, there were more "rude" interactions than nice ones. But taking your medication is a pretty serious thing, so I kinda don't blame them but it is something to take note of.
- Work seems needed everywhere
- On-the-Job training gets you a license and certificate paid for by company
Cons
- Corporate greed has closed 4 stores within 10 miles from my house
- Budget cuts reduce hours for team members and lessen # of technicians & associates in the store / pharmacy for help
- Unless approved or store performs well, overtime is prohibited
- Pharmacy team and customers largely determine work atmosphere
Severely understaffed. Employees are expected to work overtime if work is still not done by the end of the day. Have unrealistic expectations from staff. Some stores have bad management. Just depends on the district manager I guess,
Unreliability. Understaffed underpaid underscheduled and over stressed throughout the summer and spring, and then they give hours back come flu season meanwhile you are still understaffed, underpaid, over stressed, and working over 40+ hours w
Lack of accountability, 30-40 members per manager (FL) they expect great service from you for sick patients but if you get sick, you’re up for termination
