What are pay raises like at Valvoline Instant Oil Change?

Pretty quick promotion from technician to senior tech.

No seniority pay increase regardless of how long you have worked there. 10 minute breaks were not enforced, even for employees working excess of 8 hours per day. Managers rarely involve themselves and tend to stay in the office all day (even if they are just sitting on their phones). This one depends on your location but at our store bay doors were required to be open at all times of the day regardless of weather conditions. Unless it was “40 degrees or below” as outlined my our area manager. Angry and passive aggressive group texts from management. Write ups for calling out sick and being unable to find coverage. Constant push for sales and making employees feel punished for not meeting sales metrics.

Paid weekly. 15 an hour.

Favoritism in the company. Hard to get a raise. Not enough hours.

Working on cars and truck . Talking with people

No pay raises. No overtime . Everything bout money

Pay raises, promotions, great benefits. Good environment in the service centers.

Temperature. More accountability with management.

Weekly pay, paid holidays, PTO

It has a weird cult-like environment where you're expected to eat, sleep, and breathe Valvoline. The starting pay is only 15.25 which is weird for a job where is so much going on around and you have to worry about your safety. You're pressured to sale if you move up but you don't get any commission for it. In fact, senior tech is only a 2 dollar raise but you're expected to be to able to sale and to open, run. and then close the store. Most customers are nice but then you get the occasional bad customer. Some customers act like they don't trust anybody to touch their car and it makes you why they don't just change their own oil instead.

Most people are easy to deal with

Typically don’t care about employees below management level. Higher ups get the majority of the raises throughout the company.

good for entry level tech.

cheap with employees university’s only get you .25-.50 raise

The benefits are amazing and corporate kicks in a lot of the cost. Training is provided. Uniforms and cleaning service is provided.

Managers will offer one salary then pay less. When you complain, they say there's nothing they can do.

Work output expectations are far greater than pay or what is reasonable at times. Raises are predicated on promotion. No merit raises for anyone under the Service Center Manager. No PTO. No sick leave. Employees are expected to train up to the Assistant Service Center Manager role in a set amount of time or risk being terminated regardless of career aspirations. New technicians are not eligible for a bonus until they are promoted to certified technician which can take up to a few months even though their labor contributes to the bonus pool. HR and upper management is non-responsive and apply company policies unevenly between individual employees. High turnover and potentially high risk of burnout. All around not a very rewarding job.
