What is overtime like at Tesla?

      Tesla reviews

They owe me $5000+ in labor, holiday pay, overtime and bonuses.

      Pros

Ha... benefits, that's rich. Absolutely rich.

      Cons

Too big, you can never get ahold of anyone, false promises day 1, inconsistent schedule, massive amounts of overtime you won't get paid for, all around disregard for their employees. I was nearly killed in an preventable accident by my Manager's Manager. 0/5 don't waste your time

Strong pay and benefits, but intense workload and stress

      Pros

& Benefits: Unlike traditional dealership roles that rely on unpredictable commissions, Tesla pays a competitive hourly base rate (often ranging from $20 to $40+ depending on the market). They also offer excellent health benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and 401(k) matching. The "Resume Halo" Effect: Having a powerhouse name like Tesla on your resume is a massive career booster. It proves to future employers that you can survive a hyper-fast-paced environment and handle complex CRM technology. Passion-Driven Environment: You get to work with cutting-edge tech and a highly motivated team. For those passionate about sustainable energy and EVs, the work feels meaningful. Fast-Track Networking & Growth: Because Tesla operates in "chaos is a ladder" fashion, high performers who can multi-task and lead during stressful times can move up to management or transition into corporate roles relatively quickly.

      Cons

Brutal "End of Quarter" (EOQ) Crunch: Tesla is notorious for its manic, high-pressure pushes at the end of every quarter to meet delivery targets. During these weeks, expect long hours, mandatory overtime, and zero scheduling flexibility. Burnout & Poor Work-Life Balance: The environment is incredibly fast-paced. Employees frequently report last-minute schedule changes, working many days in a row, and a corporate culture that heavily prioritizes metrics and KPIs over individual work-life balance. Intense Customer Escalations: Tesla customers often have high expectations because of the price point. If there are software bugs, delivery delays, or service backlogs, you are the frontline shield. De-escalating irate tech-savvy clients is a daily requirement. Physical, All-Hands Operations: This is not a "stand behind a desk" job. You will be on your feet all day, running around the lot, and frequently doing manual labor—including washing, vacuuming, and detailing cars yourself to ensure they are perfect for delivery day.

      Pros

Pay is good and employees are great You get laid off every year so they release you from being overworked so that's a plus

      Cons

Zero work life balance, unpaid overtime expected, no lunch expected. CEO is a moron that doesn't know what he's doing and nukes the stock for giggles

      Pros

      * Great people work here * Nice area and good food trucks * Opportunities for career advancement

      Cons

      * You will compete with co workers for parking even 20 minutes early * Never park on the street, Fremont PD knows to check this area daily * People have less then great hygiene skills, routine illnesses around office * AC, Heat schedules are weird. Have a fan and space heater at your desk. * Favoritisim, big time * lots of overtime, you’re working twice as hard as someone in the same field in a different company, only they’re getting paid more and less stressed. The idea is you’re willing to do more and take less because you love Tesla…

      Pros

Stock options are ok, health care options are also ok

      Cons

Pay can be better for lower level workers. Management can be terrible depending on the location you're working at. They'll also work you to the bone, which can be a plus if you want the overtime, although I hear they force you to clock out now so they don't pay you time and half.

Got to learn a lot from the internship, but the company culture left a sour taste

      Business outlook

      Pros

You are surrounded by really smart engineers all around. Great opportunity to learn how the industry works, will gain huge amount of knowledge in all the softwares and eventually you will. be capable of relating it to the theory and hand calculations.

      Cons

I dont wanna sound childish, but there are no real additional benefits provided, like gym, food, after office events etc. Everyone just works and later in the internship, you are expected to work atleast 1 hr overtime. I understand that I have to work overtime to meet deadlines and get paid for it as well, but there is something call company culture and work life balance.
