      Pros

Teaching students' new skills and knowledge that will help them throughout their careers. The holidays are good too. Little to no weekend work.

      Cons

Completely toxic management that only care about getting students through as quick as possible with little care about helping them. Micromanagement of every detail and even moving offices just so they can watch staff having lunch or making coffee. Playing favorites with staff, allowing some staff to work from home while others have to travel hundreds of kilometers.

      Look elsewhere

      Pros

Flexible working arrangements. That would be it.

      Cons

Working at TAFE NSW can be frustrating due to excessive bureaucracy and a very slow pace of progress. Almost everything operates through a ticketing system, which makes getting assistance time-consuming. If you want to work somewhere where you make a difference - this is not your place. No difference can ever be made here as systems outdated, very manual work practices and no one cares to evolve. There’s also a lack of accountability within management, and issues such as harassment are often overlooked or poorly handled. Forced shutdown at Christmas, so you need to have enough annual leave otherwise this period is unpaid.

Dreadful experience - Don't work there

      Change manager

      Business outlook

      Pros

Disorganised with no care for their people. The project I worked on was a 'roundabout' of people being offered a role and then being let go again after a few months. It was incredibly difficult to get anything done. People were micro managed by senior leaders and treated with little respect. I was warned it was going to be bad, but it was worse that I expected.

      Cons

I was able to work from home. No one ever asked anything about me or cared where I worked (an indication of their culture). Be warned. Only work there if you're desperate.

      Pros

      - Great people - Rewarding atmosphere - Huge scope for adding value - Lots of opportunities, both paid and learning opportunity - Well paid - Great flexibility - 9 - 5 work culture - Standard government benefits - fitness passport, long parental leave, flexible work arrangements, special leave (i.e for donating blood)

      Cons

      - Lacking in digital literacy - Outdated facilities for staff - Disconnected with industry standards - Pockets of poor leadership (stereotypical government worker mentality)
