What is the hiring process like at J.B. Hunt Transport?

Someone on the JB Hunt hiring team is extremely homophobic. I had coworkers I went to highschool with who barely graduated and worked crummy jobs before this and got hired on at $24 an hour, but I struggle to get paid above $17.50 an hour for the exact same position with a college degree and over a decade of call center experience. Hired on people from gas stations with no college into higher roles but someone with a degree gets paid dust. Good luck here if you are not a straight white male.

The company is big and loves to celebrate its people and tries to give them a platform to feel heard and create change.

The team does some really awesome work but lacks support for the People team and hiring managers which makes it difficult to succeed. Also, since the team is small, everyone was always overloaded and over extended. The company also has a lot of traditional hiring beliefs in Operations that don't always allow for the best or most diverse hires.

Good people. Financially stable company. Despite the cons below I do enjoy my job.

You can get a great performance review and you will still get the same merit increase as anybody else. Merits also never cover inflation and cost of living. If you are close to the higher pay range for your job you won't get anymore raises. This turns into little to no incentive to outperform your peers. Field promotions are also like a steep pyramid. Once you get to a certain level it's almost impossible to get a promotion simply because there is nothing else. New hires are paid much more than mangers hired just a few years ago. This leads to senior managers being very close to the same salary as the people they manage. No one I have ever heard of has received a raise just based of good performance.
