      Great potential - Poor processes

      Regional manager
      Current employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Nice office in West London - some good people, the business has a great potential. Good career progression. Do not get involved in things like identity politics.

      Cons

Poor ability to get anything done, directors commit to large tasks they do not have the facilities, processes or systems in place to deliver. Training for their engineers and tools is so poor and miles behind competitors.

Good personal culture but poor development and care

      Anonymous employee
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

People are key and you can speak to anyone, at any level. There is a large young crowd of employees, all working very hard together. Free fruit and basic snacks in the kitchen are good, plus the cultural and engagement team do a great job at making it a better place for people to work and socialise. Good opportunities to work from home also.

      Cons

The opportunities for growth and development are really poor. Across the 3-4 years that I was at the company, I was never offered or put forward for a promotion, despite my job roles/responsibilities changing multiple times during my time there. Also, the constant restructures and team changes led to a lot of disruption and stress on team members, taking on more than they should be doing. Annual salary reviews were very poor also, especially considering when a lot of people had left and the more 'loyal' team members were not rewarded. There's also a strict '3-days in' policy, yet many teams do not stick to this so there are times when you go into the office, for nobody to be in and it's a waste of travel time/money.

If you are really out of options

      Senior solution designer
      Current employee

      Recommend

      Business outlook

      Pros

Considering that a regular salary and health insurance are basic expectations, I can say that I have absolutely no positive impression of the company.

      Cons

The organization faces a lack of structure, alignment, and transparency, while the general level of technical expertise is quite limited. Management lacks real authority, unlike similar roles in the UK, and this gap is often filled by shifting responsibility, manipulation, and a "he said, she said" culture — all in an attempt to hold onto positions without assuming accountability. If you join the company, it’s advisable to carefully share your knowledge, especially if it is at a higher level than that of your colleagues, as this could lead to rivalry with long-standing employees who consider their positions secure. The work environment tends to encourage competition rather than collaboration, creating a rather toxic atmosphere. Most employees have stayed in their positions for years without basic qualifications, having gained knowledge "on the go" instead of through structured development. For those who aspire to professional growth through knowledge sharing and continuous learning, I would strongly advise avoiding such an environment. A final piece of advice: avoid closed-door meetings with management without official correspondence. This can protect you from potential manipulation, untruths, and misinformation.

      A backstabbers paradise

      Customer service
      Current employee
      Belgrade, Central Serbia
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

This goes without saying, but most of the coworkers are lovely genuine people who will become your friends sooner than you can imagine. Team-work is strong and whenever you need help, someone is there to help you. Salary is on time.

      Cons

People with little to no results are promoted and nobody really knows why, making the management really hard to respect. For the past year+ in CS, with the arrival of new management, there has been a really unhealthy atmosphere in the team, causing anyone who critiques any new initiatives to be ostracized, it's gone so far that team leaders aren't even asked for their opinion anymore, but everything is run by a few people with extremely limited knowledge and/or management expertise. There is a history of talking in a negative way about other colleagues with lower level employees, undermining other agents, managers or team leaders. About 10 cases are known of this happening, but HR refuses to do anything about this until mobbing charges are raised. They will only discuss things behind closed doors with no record of conversations, probably to save themselves from legal repercussions down the line. Seniority doesn't really grant you any rights. You will receive a 0% increase in your yearly salary review, with no real explanation why that is. They will tell you that feedback and the salary review are not mandatory. They will tell you that you're not a key player, but will not explain why you're not a key player. Budgets and benefits are being cut left and right, and there are rumors going around that the company is to be sold in the near future. Many people have been fired both in Serbia and the UK and essentially nobody is safe, if you're looking for a stable company, skip this one. Tools used to support the service are picked because they're cheap, not because they fit our workload best, leading to a billion problems usually taking months to fix. There's a massive cultural issue where Serbian employees are essentially considered lesser beings to their UK counterparts. There is 0 investment in people. If you're looking for learning, courses, seminars, forget about it, you will not find it here. If you're selected to conduct interviews, and it's your first time, you're just expected to know how to do it. If you're selected to manage a team, and it's your first time managing one, you're just expected to know how to do it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take your feedback seriously and would urge you to contact your local HR Business Partner to discuss your experiences. We are committed to ensuring that every employee feels heard and valued, and we have policies in place, such as our grievance policy, to support this. We understand your concerns about the salary review process. Our annual salary reviews are designed to ensure fair remuneration based on job performance and market standards. However, not every review results in an increase, as it depends on various factors that are defined for each review cycle. We continuously review and enhance our employee benefits and learning programs. For instance, on the top of our existing offering including on line learning system that contains various leadership and functional trainings, we have recently introduced Rezilient as our Employee Assistance Programme to support everyone's wellbeing, and we are launching a new line manager development programme in Q2 this year. We are also investing in our people in other ways – for example, opening a new office in Belgrade and launching new AI-driven tools and systems to help make things easier for our people so they can continue to provide a 5-star experience for our customers. Thank you again for your feedback. We are committed to making Hyperoptic a great place to work and appreciate your insights. The Culture and Engagement Team
