Good Organization, challenging, and rewarding work. great people.
Pros
Easily achieve a great work/life balance. Very welcoming, and incredibly helpful coworker pool. Their craft workforce consists of unionized personnel, majority of whom are very well trained, & highly knowledgeable in their fields. which ultimately proves to greatly contribute to the successes of the superintendents, and the company overall. Leadership team includes some very long term employees, which allowed a newcomer like myself access to potential skill developments which otherwise would take both a considerable amount of time, as well as a unfavorable amount of mistakes in order to achieve. Mostly positive work environment, with little interoffice "politics" resulting in normally well interdepartmental cooperation, & collaboration. The CEO, & management team in my belief trying to continue ushering in a stronger, more safety conscious culture.
Cons
Salaries for staff should better reflect the current cost of living in the lower mainland area of BC. Annual bonuses could be tied to the individuals performance, and that of the employee's department, and be less effected by the performance of other groups within the company. Management doesn't do enough to promote, encourage, and support superintendents in areas of team building that extends to the field craft. There is still a lot of "old ways" thinking among some of the most senior employees, which unfortunately diminishes the company's ability to build the current workforce with safety & efficiency being at the forefront of their actions. Too many "leaders" consider the field craft to be transient which ultimately takes away any considerations towards investing in higher levels of training, & development of the workers. There is also an unhealthy amount of "doing the bare minimum to stay employed" type of approach from managers, and superintendents.
