      Business outlook

      Pros

Can work anytime and from anywhere with a computer and good internet connection. Easy to schedule lessons. No need to prepare for lessons in advance. Mostly just chatting with students.

      Cons

Low pay that has never increased. No incentives and prospects for career advancement. Unclear rating system - Recently, many experienced tutors are experiencing a rapid decline in their ratings without a clear explanation. Lack of privacy - The recent implementation of AI to analyse all of the lessons feels very intrusive. The students can also download all lessons and upload them anywhere online without the tutors' permission.

      Cons

I love the work and the students, but...

      Pros

It's amazing to talk with English learners throughout the world. I've built friendships, helped with job interview prep and application essays, and had so many interesting conversations. I've even met a few of my students in person when traveling. Most of the students are friendly, polite, and positive.

      Cons

The pay is the biggest downside. I really wish that tutors would be given recognition or incentives for hard work, attendance, and longevity. I think that a pay raise of even a dollar or two per hour, and bringing back the bonus opportunities would greatly improve tutor morale. Also, tutors are harshly penalized for cancellation, even if they get ill or have an emergency. It's unfair for reliable tutors. It would be great if the company could rethink this policy. If a tutor gets sick and has to cancel lessons that day, they already lose that pay. They should not have to also fear losing their job.

      Cons

Minimum job security and very strict rating system

Not for income or career progress

      Pros

Meeting and helping interesting people from all over the world; schedule flexibility. . Some technical problems, but perhaps that's normal for a platform with such features (I'm not a technical person)

      Cons

. From tutors POV: very poor: pay, tutor support/respect. . Curriculum: good quantity but poor quality . Students POV: progress extremely slow for them for several reasons but they don't realize it; significant cost for little real progress; difficulty accessing regular tutors, no focus on important basics since they don't attract customers even though they're most important for real progress, etc. . making a killing for the owners/shareholders though!
