Does there seem to be diversity at BAE Systems?

      Pros

Nothing. No equal opportunity, no company culture, no career advancement, and its a boys club. If you're a female, they will isolate you and push you out. I went up the chain of command to which no one listened and or took me seriously, and yet, when I went to the EEOC, BAE never answered the charge or the mediation… but yet interviewed the managers involved… Guilty. This one manager was charged with retaliation and discrimination and yet he still has his job… what does that tell you? Its a boys club.

      Cons

Dont intern here, dont work here, don’t support this company at all. They have a lousy fast turnstile of people coming and going all due to their poor management. Great employees are forced out, and poor work ethic is celebrated. Dont work here, dont support this company, dont intern here either… bring your bright minds elsewhere because they wont be valued here.

      Pros

A business that is working hard to create an inclusive culture and foster a sense of belonging for staff.

      Cons

The organisation plays lip service a lot. They say they will change things but it never really happens.

      Business outlook

      Pros

Cutting edge exciting work. A sense of pride in what people do particularly in the defence related projects. An opportunity to have a successful work life balance via flexi time and generous holiday allowance. Top end pay scales and pension. Impressive share save scheme and company bonus. Structured approach to career progression and top class training opportunities. Impressive values and inclusive culture. A company with clear on-ongoing growth success which in turn is generating fresh opportunities for new and existing staff.

      Cons

The fact I've had to think about this for 5 mins and not come up with anything says it all.

Micromanagement, bullying and lack of diversity

      Business outlook

      Pros

Mostly good colleagues who are not in management or acting management roles Hybrid working (though the game of favourites is played)

      Cons

Promotion based on who existing manager likes, based on having similar demographic background Micromanagement, pettiness and abuse of power is demoralising for otherwise talented staff Complete disregard for diversity Top-down bullying problem ignored - speak up and you will be targeted and managed out Over-selling the job at interview Pay is not distributed on the basis of qualifications, transferable skills or experience and innovation is seen as a threat No career progression, unless your face happens to fit

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Friendly team Average salary for experience and skillset Work/life balance

      Cons

Experience seems to be largely dependent on the manager you have. I have a positive experience now because my manager is great, supportive, and trusting in my work and ability and therefore allows me flexibility, but many others are more “old school” (and proud of it for some reason) so enforce office work, long hours and overall a more toxic experience. Still an extremely large older white male population within the engineering functions that can unfortunately foster a sexist racist culture.

      A bigoted racist institution

      Business outlook

      Pros

I worked for them a few years ago and it is a very racist institution run by right wing brexiteers. They employ the occasional brown person to make things look normal but overwhelmingly the majority of people working there are much of what they are like. They don’t believe in diversity. I am now working in the UAE in a language institution and there are many British brown and black faces, so why doesn’t baes Have a similar make-up? The reason is, they don’t want them.

      Cons

Very 1970s and dated. Not a good organisation to work for, not if you like progressive policies.
