The algorithm matches you with a lot of students especially when they have some promotion going on

The payment system is completely flawed. They take a huge cut of your pay and the only way to not have a huge commission taken out is by making 3,000 USD a month but that is nearly impossible for most people considering the saturated market

AmazingTalker allows you the opportunity to teach other subjects than English to make it more interesting. I currently teach Yoga and Emotional Healing (life coaching), and all of my students are ESL students as well. The platform uses Zoom and is easy to navigate once you get used to it.

Commission starts at 30% + 8% transfer fee... it reduces as you earn more but you'd need a lot of students to reduce it significantly. They also prevent you from increasing your fee until you've taught a certain number of lessons which is in the hundreds. I've been on the platform for over a year and my fee is set at $20/hr US before commission, so the actual amount I earn is lower than Australian minimum wage.

Excellent structure for those who are working from home, very manageable and doesn't require a lot to be accepted as a teacher. The whole interface is very easy to navigate and it's a very user friendly experience.

Because of the 30% commission that goes down with every USD1000 that you earn, for many it can become discouraging when trying to price your classes so that it's reasonable and also profitable to yourself.

It's a great way to recruit students online and they have a great system to resolve conflicts such as what to do if the student does not turn up in the lesson.

The commission is ridiculously high, customer service is really poor, and teachers are ignored and exploited to a certain extent.

Easy enough to start teaching without prior training as long as you have a shining degree

I haven’t actually started tutoring students through this platform yet but you set your own hours and salary. You can also change the settings to say if you’re doing instant tutoring or if you’re not accepting new students.

You have to pay a commission fee (initially 30%), but I think it is reasonable to pay some amount of your salary back to the company/website.

Number of classes scheduled can vary greatly from week to week, so earnings also vary from month to month There are a lot of teachers on the platform and I am not sure how much visibility my profile gets with potential students The commission taken is high until you reach over US$2,000 a month in earnings (which is not easy to do in my experience)

You get to meet people from around the world, you have freedom in what you teach.

Fees are far too high. 10% student fee is added to your price. 8% Fixed fee each month. + commission on top of that of up to 38% means you your looking at 3 layers of fees, it's too much. Even if you get commission to 0% your paying a lot in other fees and you have to work insane hours to lower the commission so definitely not flexible working hours here.

Flexible, AI matching students for you, if you earn over 3000USD in that month, you pay 0% of the commission to the platform (you still always have to pay 8% of the service fee to the platform no matter what). the commission to the platform starts at 30%, every 100USD you earn, it reduces 1% from the 30, that's why when you earn 3000USD, you don't have to pay any commission.

Sad for the starter teachers because it takes a big chunk of the % when you don't get that many students.

Flexible teaching schedule and access to international students.

Recently, the platform has required teachers to use its internal classroom system, which has shown recurring technical instability. Common issues include audio disruptions, screen-sharing failures, black screens, and unexpected disconnections during lessons. These problems directly affect lesson quality and student learning experience. In many cases, teachers have to arrange and pay for their own backup tools (such as Zoom) to ensure lessons can continue smoothly. At the same time, commission and service fees remain high, which creates a mismatch between the fees charged and the level of infrastructure support provided to teachers. Over time, this has led to growing concern among experienced teachers about whether the platform environment is stable enough for long-term teaching.
