Recently at Findmypast we tried something new: we held our first virtual company meeting. We hadn’t planned for it to be virtual, but we knew that we wanted to come together, connect and share plans and it was fantastic! Over two days we reflected on how the company has adapted and thrived in 2020; inspired each other with stories from our own family histories; brainstormed our future working culture; reviewed our progress on building a diverse and inclusive culture; and thought about ways to listen even harder to our customers. We may not have been together in person but we found new ways to connect, laugh and debate together, and everyone was able to join without travelling. In the words of our CEO, Tamsin Todd: "Thank you to all the Findmypast team for being curious and sharing your ideas. It’s an honour to make history and map out the future with you." #HonourHistory #StayCurious
"When starting any new job there’s often a slight feeling of nervousness and even more so with the prospect of onboarding remotely. Questions began to enter my mind such as: What do I do if I get stuck? Who do I reach out to for help? However, my first day soon put an end to any worries I may have had". Over the last few months, we have onboarded a number of new joiners remotely and we are continuing to hire. Although we haven't all met each other face to face, we have thoughtfully adapted our onboarding process to a remote environment and we'd like to say a huge welcome to everyone who has joined Findmypast recently!
When the lockdown was first announced, we quickly responded to the needs of our users by launching a comprehensive programme of interactive online activities and events. Our online community provides a safe space for users to exchange ideas and help each other progress in their research. Hear more about this from our CEO, Tamsin Todd, here:
Looking after your wellbeing during this challenging time is key. At Findmypast, we are working from home and have mindfulness sessions in the morning to get us focused for the day ahead and at the end of the day to help close each day well. #behuman
