Today we honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising – and every person still fighting for equality today. With 36% of the LGBTQ+ workforce experiencing discriminatory comments at work*, at Davies we have a zero tolerance for bias in hiring and promotions, confidential gender transition support and amplifying the vital work of our LGBTQ+ ERG to all employees. Allyship isn’t passive. We stand with our community today and every day. *Sources: Stonewall
Throughout the UK, 39% of LGBTQ+ employees still hide their identity at work*. At Davies, we know there’s more to do. This pride month, we’re hosting LGBTea events with our LGBTQ+ ERG to raise awareness, match-funding donations for [tag] Galop (supporting LGBTQ+ survivors) and driving education on unconscious bias and microaggressions. We believe in making every colleague feel seen respected and free to be their true selves. Progress is ongoing – and we’re in the fight. *Sources: Stonewall
At Davies, supporting our colleagues' physical and mental health and wellbeing isn't a perk - it's a priority. That's why we created our Supporting Our Health and Well-being Employee Resource Group (ERG). They provide a space for sharing experiences, building connections and raising awareness of the challenges impacting employees. This year, to honour #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, our group partnered with [tag] Spectrum.Life to deliver a webinar on balancing life’s demands. Elle Conway, Co-Chair of our Supporting Our Health and Well-being ERG said “From our Employee Assistance Programme to year-round ERG initiatives, we’re here to help our people navigate life’s challenges because mental health is a priority – not just this week, but every day.”
To celebrate Earth Day, Davies employees are stepping up to support both our planet and our communities around the world by giving workwear a second life. Our sustainability-focused Employee Resource Group, Eco Davies, alongside The Davies Foundation will be hosting workwear clothing drives. Employees can donate quality office attire to help job seekers access professional clothing, reduce textile waste, and strengthen our community through purposeful giving. The clothing drives are being organised in collaboration with Dress for Success Worldwide and Suited & Booted. We’re looking forward to donating to our communities and making an impact that lasts far beyond today!
At Davies, we recognise that greater diversity - neurodiversity included - brings unique ideas and perspectives to every challenge we face. This week, we’re proud to join the global movement for Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Today, our 'Supporting Our Health & Wellbeing' Employee Resource Group partnered with Campaign Against Living Miserably to host a webinar for employees on neurodiversity and mental health. This reflects our mission to create a supportive space for all colleagues, ensuring everyone is valued and heard. Thank you to all who participated - let’s continue to celebrate neurodiversity every day! #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #NeurodiversityWeek #NCW #EmployeeWellbeing
To mark National Caregivers Day in February, our Working Families and Caregivers Employee Resource Group partnered with Working Families, to host a webinar which shared practical advice and best practice on balancing work alongside caring responsibilities, and self-care strategies for those managing multiple responsibilities. The mission of our Working Families and Caregivers ERG is to create a safe, supportive space for anyone looking for guidance on caring for dependents or supporting those who care. We are proud to continue championing those balancing both career and caregiving responsibilities across the business. We hope our colleagues at Davies found the session helpful, and we look forward to continuing to work with Working Families in the future! Throughout 2024, the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG) hosted a variety of LGBTea and Ice-Cream-social events, which proved very popular with staff at Davies! These events saw employees engage in important conversations, providing a platform for questions and discussions. Funds were also raised for Galop, which were generously matched by The Davies Foundation. At Davies, we are proud to have six employee-led resource groups, each dedicated to recognising diverse perspectives and promoting a culture of inclusion across the business. John Coe, Chair of the ERG said: “This year, our ERG has focused on supporting the LGBTQ+ community, raising awareness, and promoting allyship. We've experienced some changes in leadership, but our active network of members and allies has remained solid throughout the period. We’re excited to host more events in 2025, particularly throughout Pride Month, and will continue to advocate for the LGBTQ+ community within Davies and beyond. It’s been rewarding to be part of such an inclusive group and I'm pleased that we’ve had the opportunity to connect, network and have conversations on so many important topics.” We’re looking forward to even more impactful moments from our ERG's throughout 2025!
As we approach the end of 2024, we’d like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has played a part in making it another successful year for Davies. A special thank you to our dedicated global team for your hard work, to our clients for your ongoing support, and to our valued partners in the insurance and financial services market for your continued collaboration. Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue to expand our solutions and services, and enter new markets to better support our clients across the industry. Happy holidays from all of us at Davies!
