Pros

Next to all amenities, nice and expensive (too) expensive building, working hours, some benefits and some really nice colleagues

Cons

No need to be in the city center with an over expensive building which is too small for the staff. Crowed workspaces, few opportunities to crow into the company (especially in Dublin office). A very lay back HR staff. An inexistent company culture, too much money spending in frivolous expenses. We were aware of the lack of cash flow in the company by August 2019, we were asking not requesting any increase in our salary, but in the mean time, more and more ppl have been hired. No expectation regarding the salary increase or new position. If you are not a manager you are literally nothing. A lack of support during the lockdown from the HR, no news, no help and they were still 2 of them for a quarter of the staff we were.

Pros

some decent benefits, some very nice colleagues

Cons

Business is very disorganized, no clear directions and no communication between departments. Very stressful and high pace not only in high season, law pay compared to other companies in Dublin. If you are friend with the right circle you can get what you want for pay and traveling opportunities. Since summer 2019 they were in financial troubles and they continued to hire people. In March they laid off a lot of people because of the covid-19. Almost the entire office in Dublin was sent home . No clear policies or regulations, HR department in Dublin doesn't do much for the staff. The layoff was handled poorly,. In some cases they asked to pay back the months left for metro card, or payback the medical insurance. There is no transparency about what is really going on. The culture is about directors deciding everything with no consideration for people who actually do the work, Most colleagues were nice but the culture is not, unless they think a birthday cake is good enough to support staff.

Let me start by thanking you for the feedback. Although we are not used to receiving 1-star reviews we appreciate your opinion. We never like to hear that someone has had a negative experience with us. We are always trying to brainstorm ways to decrease stress and work smarter. I do agree, this is a face-paced company but that is the heart of Walks. We know we are growing rapidly and we are always attentive to this fact! As much as we respect the overall feedback, after some deep reflection, we can’t agree with a few of your statements. We do our best to stay competitive with pay and match the market rate but as a small company, this is not always the case. We believe our travel opportunities combined with our great benefits package make up for this. While we would love for everyone to have the same travel opportunities there are some roles that require more travel due to their nature. We value transparency, respect, and support - we try hard on our weekly company-wide video calls to keep everyone in the loop, always leaving time for questions & answers at the end. In addition, our HR team checks in with all employees at least once a week in order to hear feedback like this, we’re sorry if you felt unable to share during these check-ins. Our culture is ever-improving and morphing into something new, especially with being in the travel industry during this pandemic! COVID-19 is a difficult situation to navigate but we feel we are handling it with respect and care while remaining compliant with Irish employment law. We invite you to email hr-culture@takewalks.com to give us more insight into your experience. Thank you again for letting us know!

Cons

Hours are pretty tough if you're not a morning person. Luckily I am!
