The commission structure is a joke, they make it so confusing for you to understand if you are actually getting what you have rightfully earned to the point even asking a manager, you just get a vague load of waffle even Boris Johnson would be proud of. Since leaving VG I've worked out I was roughly getting short changed about £1k - £2k per month compared to most other agencies.
VG is your golden ticket to a mental break down but don't worry they 'really care' about the health of their staff. You will know this by HR sending monthly emails telling you to look after yourself, leave your desk, do something fun after work but heaven forbid you turn up to work anything less than 30mins before you're even paid to be in the office - you will be sure to get 'roomed' for that despicable behaviour!
Word of advice don't even think about making a perm placement. I once placed a management role for 15% of the salary which meant I got, sorry VG got £7k. I say VG got, as you have to split that fee down across 26 weeks.. £269.23 per week (£1076.92 per month), sounds a lot, jokes on you, you will only ever see about 10% of that (if your lucky, remember VG fiddle the numbers), that means per month you roughly get £107.68 per month of that £7k fee, that spread across 6 months (26 weeks), you will receive around £646.08... that's not even 10% of the overall fee. To put this into perspective with my current employer, if I were to place a £7k fee, you straight up get 15% of that (£1050) and that comes in one pay packet, not spread across 6 meaning more money for you...
Lastly- A recent blow to loyal consultants, VG have offered a pay increase for people coming into the company but not to consultants that have been there for years. It seems VG's whole business plan is around extorting consultants for a much as possible so Senior Management can sit around telling you 'your job's on the line' every 5 mins when you aren't contributing to their £100k + salary a year BUT again don't worry HR will be sending you a email mentioning how important you're mental health is.
