Pros

Weekend working hours are shorter, when working weekends Thursday and Friday before and Monday after are non-working days, weekends and public holidays are better paid. Great company culture, a lot of snacks in the office and free food/break a few times per week.

Cons

I have not been in the company for a long time, so not sure. It seems they are always gathering feedback and trying to improve.

Pros

Given turbulent times and AI, I think Make is a good place to be. It has a bold vision, dares to experiment (and admit failure). There is surprisingly - for a company of this size - high space for self-realisation and an easy-to-traverse hierarchy (need confirmation/consultation of my initiative from a VP? It usually takes up to a few days). There are honest attempts to learn from mistakes and keep the engineering level high. People are also friendly and easygoing.

Cons

Nothing Make related. The eventual frictions come from the fact that Make has a few hundred people, which brings internal communication issues followed by people not reading internal communication, misunderstandings, etc. I personally don't think this can be fully compensated for, but not fully eliminated either. Make could certainly improve internal communication from leadership towards the company.

Pros

It’s incredibly rewarding to work on a product and brand used by millions of people worldwide. Make is full of exceptionally smart and talented individuals who are a constant source of inspiration. Even as an individual contributor, you can be highly impactful; your work is visible and truly appreciated if you put in the effort. On top of that, the office facilities are top-notch and the benefits are great. If you want to experience a true "Tech SaaS extravaganza," Make is definitely the place to be!

Cons

The execution can occasionally feel a bit slow, and we sometimes lack that final "push" to the finish line. That said, management is proactive about it, and the ongoing shift toward a more agile mindset is very promising.

Thank you for sharing this, it’s heartwarming to read. Working on a product used by millions globally, with people who challenge and inspire each other, is exactly the kind of environment we aim to create for Makers. It’s especially good to hear that the impact of individual contributors comes through clearly as that’s something we care about a lot and stand by our core value: Extreme Ownership. We also appreciate the points on execution and "pushing" things fully over the finish line. It’s something we’re aware of, and as you mention, leaning toward a more agile and outcome-focused way of working is currently an ongoing shift for us. And “Tech SaaS extravaganza” is a new one, we might keep that 💜 Thanks again for taking the time to share this!
