Pros

They assigned me to a public primary school, to teach grade 4-6 students, who were aged 10-12. I usually had around 16 classes per week, 40 minutes per class. I had 40 office hours per week, which included the teaching hours of course. I actually didn’t like the office hours much, but could I completely understand the reasons, it did ensure I put the time into preparation, which is important of course, it prevented me from rushing around at the last moment to prepare.

Cons

The salary,to be honest it was not competitive, compared with what others got in training centers and international schools. But I had less of a work load, a more regular and relaxed life, so with all this taken into account I think the salary was reasonable.

Employment Experience with Haida

Pros

Haida works with many school so if is a problem with employment at one school they can transfer you to another. They usually get all the paper work done on time. They update you when it is time to get a legal documents such as resident permits, etc. Teachers usually don't have to worry about such things. However, you can still find yourself in trouble with the law when employed by HAIDA. Some

Cons

Although Haida gets you documents to work in China, it is not necessarily with the laws of China. Haida puts your life at risk!!!!!! if you want to maintain a clean police record in life stay away from Haida. They do unscrupulous things to get you documents to work in China. They will get you documents to work in one city and when you arrive in China you are sent to a different city to work. This is illegal in China. Your work permit gives you permission to work in a particular institution and no where else. You can be arrested for working in a city/ school other than the institution stated on your work permit. Haida places you at schools that requires you to work at different branches which is also illegal. When you decide not to renew your contract with Haida you will encounter many complicated situations that will force you to leave the country because your documents are tangled in a web of illegal things, false/inaccurate information was entered on the system by Haida therefore no other school can reapply for a new work permit. If you decide not to resign a contract with them they can prematurely terminate your contract, prepare release documents with your signature stating that you entered into a mutual agreement of early termination without your knowledge. Also, they can upload TEFL certificates to the system other than the one your submit to them. This makes it difficult when transiting to a new employer because the online system will reject your application because the TEFL being uploaded by your current employer is different from the one Haida uploaded.

Haida Response
4y
While some teachers have found themselves in trouble with the authorities in the past through their own misadventure, such as being caught working part time for other companies, Haida has always offered assistance regardless of who was at fault. Without further details, we cannot comment on the claims made other than to say that we ensure the legality of the teachers with both the FSB and Education Bureau.
