Pros

Flexible and understanding team leaders. They are the only management within operations and commercial that reflect company values. They show genuine care and concern over wellbeing of individuals. However, they are in a tricky position due to lack of caring and empathy from senior management. Senior management do not reflect company values in anyway. Flexible holiday arrangements and free lunch.

Cons

High performers are not compensated sufficiently for the amount of business and work put in. Individuals typically work 6 day weeks and unsocial hours for majority of the year. Unsocial hours (10PM weeknights), weekends and bank holiday work is seen as the norm now by senior management. Brokers typically getting no more than 3 days off per month. This concern has been raised on several occasional and ignored. By exceeding individual targets regularly, over achievers have been rewarded with commission cuts. This is the only sales role I know of that commission is reduced due to regularly exceeding targets. Bonus structure has been reviewed 3* in 2019 to reduce earnings. **WARNING THIS IS NOT AN UNCAPPED ROLE. THE OTE IS CAPPED, IF YOU ARE DEEMED TO BE EARNING TOO MUCH MANAGEMENT WILL REVIEW BONUS STRUCTURE** The OTE management look to restrict individuals too is way below industry norm for the amount output each individual produces. Lack of care over individuals health and wellbeing. Individuals are overworked more than any other company I know of. The business is open every single day of the year other than Xmas, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and you are expected to work. This is includes all weekends and bank holidays (900am-900pm). Never worked a job where staff have such little time off. All the hard work and exceeding of targets is rewarded with pay cuts.

Not a pleasant place to work

Pros

The Habito name is very visible and has a good reputation in the fintech world. Along with Trussle, they make up the two leading digital mortgage firms. Senior management and board believe in and are invested in the technology part of the business.

Cons

The atmosphere in the office is very political all of the time which can be tiring unless you are used to working in that kind of environment. I found it hard to identify clear lines of responsibility or accountability which led to constant friction. Unclear and volatile resource allocation or ticket priority logic which often appeared to be based on the short term whims and fancies of senior management. The culture is such that new hires aren't afforded the time to settle in and prove their worth. In addition, there are some very common tech startup traits like confusing technical skills for management potential, reluctance to accept mistakes made in the founding years, lack of subject and customer knowledge, and an unhealthy bias towards over-hiring. In short, it isn't a very pleasant place to work if you are not part of the founder's inner circle.
