Pros
The training for unqualified assessors is second to none. I joined the t2 TAQA Academy after a friend recommended it to me, and I have absolutely no regrets. The Academy team are brilliant. Im not allowed to add names into this review, but the amazing lady who who manages the Academy, along with the 2 IQAs, are always available at the drop of a hat. No question is ever considered a silly question, and they genuinely believe in every person they support. Whenever I had moments where I thought, Maybe I can't do this job, the academy manager would always remind me that it wasn't i can't, it was I can't yet She would then make sure I had the additional training, guidance and support needed to build my confidence and develop my skills. Leaving the Academy was honestly quite difficult because the level of support was exceptional for 6 months. The Academy team created an environment where you felt valued, encouraged and able to ask for help whenever you needed it. Even now that I am qualified, I still reach out to the Academy team for support and advice, and I am always welcomed, no matter what time it is or how busy they are. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of the TAQA Academy and the people who run it. The support, training and encouragement I received gave me the confidence and skills needed to become a qualified assessor, and I will always be grateful for that.
Cons
One area I think could be improved is the support available to newly qualified and unqualified staff once they move into operational teams. It can take longer for some people to learn the role and build confidence, and I don't always feel there is the same level of understanding or patience for that learning journey within the main team. Patience and support from our line manager after transitioning from the Academy into their team would make a real difference.
