Pros
-The model is extremely solid and the organization is impactful. -Great for building end-to-end project management experience, especially in a start-up environment in a country low on the development index. Although there was some micromanagement from time to time, for the most part there is a high degree of autonomy accorded to project managers. -The coworkers are amazing. Both international and local are bright, motivated, and creative. -Despite salaries being low, the benefits are good.
Cons
-Unfortunately, it's not a trustworthy organization from an employee's perspective. Lack of transparency about job duties (including management structure, the location of projects, and the assignment of projects), failure to reimburse expenses, disregard for work/life balance, and little attention paid to security policy (remember that Mali is a conflict zone and attacks are not infrequent) were all areas of concern for myAgro staff. When employees signaled issues, response from management was often late and/or unhelpful.
