Pros

As any startup I was able to advance my career further than in any other more stablished company (This came at a great personal cost and a huge burnout).

Cons

Where to start: -Complete disregard for existing talent: They will abuse you and squeeze until the last drop. -Overwork, overtime, etc are not only not recognised but expected. Doing just your hours is frowned upon. -The level of nepotism is unbelievable: being hired because you are "a friend of" is something that is even bragged about publicly and in company meetings, but of course there is no real relevant experience backing that hiring. In some particular instances even every person under some departments I have ever spoken to said it made their life miserable. -Speaking your mind is actively punished: Company makes a lot of weird and questionable decissions that a large amount of people will disagree with, but trying to discuss alternatives or propose solutions will throw you in the "negative person" bucket and virtually terminate your career within the company. -Zero care for mental wellbeing, work/life balance, etc: If the job gets done they will not get you any help regardless of you working 10-12h a day every day. In general company prefers to replace people once they burn rather than allow appropriate working conditions and workforce vs workload. People who raise this issues are called "bad employees" and are often ran out of the company with strange and frankly disrespectful strategies (I witnessed this first-hand in 5 different ocassions across 3 different departments).

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your experiences. Feedback, both positive and negative, helps us to continually improve the working environment for the team. We’re sorry to read that your experience has made you feel that the company hasn’t effectively supported wellbeing and work / life balance. This is something that Yapily does take seriously; we recognise that a start-up environment can be challenging and we do try to support with a combination of factors including our hybrid and nomad working policies, the external wellbeing support provided by our private medical with Bupa and Employee Assistance Programme with Health Assured and we also strongly encourage our people managers to have regular 1-2-1s where support and guidance can be provided to assist with things like workload management and prioritisation, so it’s disappointing to hear that your experience has fallen short. It’s important that we learn from the feedback provided and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this and the other matters raised in your feedback, should you be willing to share some further context. Please reach out to Pippa who would be happy to explore your experiences further.

Pros

I spent nearly 4 years at Yapily and having left over a month ago, I've finally had time to reflect on my experience working there. As a function of my role, I worked with people across a number of teams including engineering, product, pre-sales, strategy and leadership. It's clear that everyone has deep passion, and is tied into the collective mission. It was amazing to see everyone rallying together when we needed to think of creative approaches or overcome challenges. Yapily has a strong no-ego culture. Yapily is in an incredibly unique position with its product-market fit and commitment to the highest engineering standards, and so as a sales person I was always able to stand confidently behind the product and thus bring creativity to my stakeholder engagement. Managers and leadership are always there to support, and particularly in my last year working closely with the senior leadership team I learnt an inordinate amount and grew as a professional in so many ways. I miss the team and will continue cheering Yapily on from the sidelines!

Cons

As with any fast-growing company, there is a pressure to perform and work to the highest standard. This can be a bit daunting in the moment, but on reflection it really helped me grow as a person and I think has set me up well for my new role.

Pros

Generally a fantastic team that want to do their best Employees often form friendships due to hiring good fits A genuinely interesting industry to work in Opportunities to contribute ideas to the architecture The chance to work with some cutting edge technology Autonomous working most of the time (although some micromanagement occurs) Attempts to improve social aspects

Cons

The management team have: been condescending and belittling to employees lost their temper and shouted at employees in meetings deliberately pushed people out through restructuring hired friends and protected them when complaints were made shifted blame for negative events or mistakes while taking credit for the positives Other negatives: RTO under the guise of collaboration, even though the offices lack desks and meeting spaces Constant stream of employees (and knowledge) leaving the company employee morale completely drained and management are either blind to it or don’t care enough to do anything to address it disorganised plan as to what the product even is, constantly pivoting with no regard to how that affects the existing codebase

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and detailed review. We appreciate that you highlighted several positives about your experience , including the strength of the team, the interesting industry, opportunities to work with new technology, and the collaborative culture we aim to build. We agree that our people are our greatest asset, and we’re proud that many employees form strong professional and personal relationships here. We’re genuinely disappointed to read the concerns you’ve raised. The behaviours you describe regarding management do not reflect our values or the standards we expect from our leaders. We take allegations of disrespectful communication, favouritism, or unprofessional conduct extremely seriously. Any feedback of this nature is reviewed internally and addressed through formal channels. At the same time, we want to provide some broader context. We regularly measure employee engagement and sentiment through anonymous surveys. Our most recent eNPS score was 19, which is above industry benchmarks and reflects that, overall, employee feedback about the company and leadership is positive. That doesn’t mean every individual experience is perfect, but it does help us understand that the picture is more balanced than a single review can capture. Regarding return-to-office and workplace changes: like many companies, we continue to evaluate how to best support collaboration while also providing flexibility. We recognise that transitions can be frustrating, and we recently improved our office facilities, meeting spaces, and hybrid working arrangements based on employee input. We also acknowledge that periods of rapid growth and product evolution can feel disruptive. Our industry moves quickly, and we are continually refining our strategy to ensure long-term success. We understand that frequent change can be challenging, and we are focused on improving communication and planning so teams have greater clarity and stability. We are always open to hearing specific, constructive feedback. If you would be willing to share more detail about your experiences, we would genuinely welcome a confidential conversation so that concerns can be properly reviewed and addressed. You can contact us directly at people@yapily.com Thank you again for sharing your perspective. Feedback, both positive and critical, is essential to helping us improve.
