Cons

Yaana offers many “free” perks and higher salaries as a façade to a terribly run business. When I started with Yaana, things seemed great. I loved the people I worked with and I enjoyed the job itself and felt challenged. Then things slowly started getting worse. Paychecks would start coming a few days after pay day and then it would get to a subsequent pay day and your last pay check would continue to be missing. Rarely were these late or missed checks explained prior to their occurrence. Whenever explanations were demanded from staff, it was often relayed that “funding” was “waiting to clear” the bank or some other vague reasoning for financial hardship. Even amidst all this, I stayed because I thought all the other perks I received (working from home, plenty of holidays/PTO, flexible schedules, great coworkers and atmosphere) outweighed this one huge negative. I felt like I was a part of a small company experiencing financial growing pains and that eventually they would make it thru because they were really focused on doing their part to make the world better. That was always the promise. And we’d see a few “good” weeks or months of only late payroll instead of missing payroll in between. Things continued in this pattern of secrecy, betrayal, and small crumbs of promise for quite a while. We used to joke that is was like an abusive relationship... joke was on us, it was. Eventually something happened to make me realize all the things I was being promised including working toward the greater good were a complete sham. I won’t go into detail but the financial struggles and following cryptic excuses and behaviors started to bleed into the clients and not just the employees. At this point I realized that continuing to work for this company would only perpetuate its ability to continue on in its vicious cycles of taking advantage of people, situations and businesses. The toxicity and manipulation used makes it very easy to get drawn in and takes down even the most good-intentioned people. I finally made the decision to do the most ethical thing I could at this point and get out. I would not recommend any one working for Yaana, for any reason. You will most certainly come to regret it. If you really need any more information, you can google search Yaana Technologies law suits.
