Pros
- Talented, driven, and highly capable colleagues across the board. - Compensation and benefits were solid. - The product itself is strong and genuinely valuable to customers. - Plenty of unsolved, interesting problems to work on. - Remote working and office was great
Cons
The environment is political, and decisions are often shaped by stakeholder relationships than by clear logic or customer/business rationale. Despite the talent, cross-team synergy was among the weakest I’ve experienced. Size of the org and its culture seemed to work against collaborating. Design culture leans heavily toward visual craft at the expense of solving customer problems. Research is under-resourced, which reinforces this. At times the role felt closer to being a make up artist rather than genuine end to end product design Overall customer experience and internal operational effectiveness lagged noticeably behind competitors like Monzo and Revolut. A fear of failure at the management level leads to a reluctance to own decisions and visible blame shifting
